It’s with great excitement that I can announce my racing season has finally arrived! I have been watching many river races, it’s started to become frustrating being asked why am I not racing the event. I chose to focus on flat water sprinting to give 100% towards qualifying for the 2016 Rio Olympics. I have been training since end of October spending many hours in the gym, swimming pool, in the water & some trail running.
It was a great Honour to walk away with some great accolades from the recent Kwa Zulu natal provinicial awards for the 2014 season. I won the senior womans paddler of the year.
I recently took part in the provincial sprint championships where I claimed the over Victrix ludorum.
This coming weekend which happens to be over the easter weekend at Roodeplaat dam in Pretoria will show case all the top SA Sprinters at our national championships. This serves as a selection race for the World Cup events in May this year.
I hope to keep you all informed of my progress along my journey of qualifying.
